Only two fights this weekend but they were fights you won’t forget for a long time to come. Amanda Lucas and Sara McMann are victorious in their matches.
This fight was totally controlled by Amanda and in the end Shinohara corner through in the towel and the referee called it. Shinohara was so upset that her corner through in the towel that she punched her cornerman and even pushed the referee to state her case that she was not tapping or wanted the fight stopped. Amanda looked great in the cage, and even with Shinohara trying to plead her case Amanda acting just like every fighter would after a win and was calm, cool and collected. Watching the fight for the 10th time I always see something different, but one thing that really stuck out was in the beginning of the first round and the ref broke them up, Shinohara tried to go for a leg kick to the face and she fell backwards, I think this was the point in the fight that Amanda had total control with her ground and pound and Shinohara would not make a come back. Something else that stuck me was when Amanda had her on the ground she had so much control and you can see Shinohara getting tired, and when she had the arm bar Shinohara was really trying her hardest to kick Amanda in her head and she landed a few but that did not effect Amanda at all, Amanda did a great job blocking the leg kick of Shinohara and then the fight was stopped when Amanda had a an awesome armbar that’s when the towel was thrown in by Shinohara conerman and Amanda won, awesome job Amanda.
our second fight of the night was another fight that will go down in fight history as one of the toughest fought.
This fight was fought hard from the beginning both fighters came out swinging. Sara did get a great knee shot to Raquel’s head and that was a changer for the fight, since I think that Raquel was looking for something else from Sara and to me it looked like Raquel was looking for more of ground game then stand up. Sara had some vicious takedown/slamdown on Raquel and by reading twitter of Raquel she said her back is messed up and heck it hurt me just by watching it. Both fighters on the ground did great a job on protecting each other, Sara was getting in some great punches on the ground but Pa’Aluhi was taking it as a seasoned female mixed martial artist. One thing that stood out in this fight was the way Sara let Raquel up from the ground which I think was great to see and giving great respect to Raquel. Some fights I have seen when a fighter would not let the other fighter up at all and try to gain position from the standing up position to do some ground and pound. The fight was dominated by Sara through all rounds that were fought but Raquel sure put up a great fight to try find a way to win the fight but in the end Sara caught her with the armlock and the fight was called by the referee. One thing that I have to say that with all the body slams that it looked like it took a toll on Raquel’s body and it showed in the last round. Great job Raquel you put up one hell of fight against Sara. Congrats Sara for getting another win and hope to see you back in the cage soon.
